Many of our members take photographs of astronomical objects, sky events, and areas of the day or night sky.  Some are novices or casual imagers, while others are experienced and accomplished.  People use a variety of equipment: smartphones; simple to complex cameras with fixed or removable lenses; consumer or specialised cameras attached to telescopes of widely different sizes. We even have members who collect image data from remote or shared telescopes across the world.

We are happy to provide advice. Over past years members have attended club workshops to learn or improve their skills in tools, such as PixInsight, or techniques, such as night-time landscape photography.

Each year members are invited to submit images for review and popular vote in an astrophotography competition.  Many of these will be chosen for the Association’s astronomy calendar.
