November meeting : The Artemis Program

Our meetings include brief business, a main presentation and items of astronomical news or learning from members. The November Main Item will be on NASA’s Artemis program presented by Geoff Seawright. A synopsis of the talk and information on the speaker are below.

Synopsis: After 50 years, humans are going back to the moon. NASA will use innovative techniques to explore more of the lunar surface than ever before, and collaborate with international partners to establish a long-term human-robotic presence on and around the Moon. After that: Mars.

Bio: Geoff graduated from UQ in the early 1980s in Maths and Computer Science. but has always maintained an interest in space. He was short listed for a civilian position on the Space Shuttle mission before the Challenger accident stopped the program temporarily in 1986. Geoff works as a software engineer for Boeing Defence Australia.
