AAQ Meetings

The AAQ holds an Annual General Meeting at the beginning of the year, usually in February, and monthly Ordinary General Meetings thereafter. The AAQ also participates in the Queensland Combined Societies meeting and AstroQuiz.

The Ordinary General meetings have a format of brief business proceedings followed by a main item which is usually a presentation by a speaker on an astronomical topic. The main item is followed by Section Director's reports and Tabling of Observations.

Ordinary General meetings:

  • Held in the Lecture Theatrette in the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium at Mount Coot-tha Botanical Gardens , Toowong, Brisbane.

  • Visitors are welcome. Just look for the Theatrette door at left through the main entrance.

  • The Planetarium has toilet facilities for the use of visitors.

  • There is free off-street parking available at the site.

  • People attending an entire Ordinary General meeting are exempt from the normal admission fee .
