How To Submit

Member's must follow these guidelines to submit articles or images for the Member's Gallery:

  1. Content must be provided in electronic form, preferably via e-mail. If the content is too big for an e-mail, it is probably too big for this site!

  2. Articles must clearly identify the submitting Member and provide contact details should we need to get back to them.

  3. Text should be unformatted, plain text. A standard format will be maintained by the Site editor. Please indicate where figures and images are to be placed in the article.

  4. Articles should be concise and to the point. A long article is okay, but the author may be asked to help with formatting for articles larger than 5000 words.

  5. An image (both stand alone images and images within an article) must be provided as a JPEG or GIF file in two sizes (thumbnail and full-size). The first is a full-size image, which has a maximum width of 800 pixels and a maximum height of 600 pixels, unless there is a compelling reason for a larger or significantly smaller resolution. Use the compression level necessary to produce a maximum file size of 250KB. The second is a thumbnail image which is a 200 pixel wide version of the full-size image. The maximum file size of the thumbnail image is 20KB. The thumbnail will be used for the link to the full-size image. We prefer to receive both images from the author, so the author is happy with their quality and appearence.

  6. You are encouraged to embed your own copyright details on the full-size image (e.g. © Fred Bloggs, 2005, Astronomical Association Of Queensland).

  7. Please provide details of the full-size image, including object name, the equipment used, date and time taken, film if used, filter if used, exposure details (time, f/ratio, ISO rating) and image processing details. These details will be shown on the web page with the full-size image.

  8. An article will be labelled with the Member's name. If the member would like, the name can be a link for the Member's personal e-mail. It is the Member's responsibility to tell us of a change in the e-mail address.

  9. Articles and images will be published on the site as soon as possible. Please be patient!
